ABOUT MICHAEL
Michael Umansky advises buyers and sellers in M&A transactions. He also counsels venture capital, private equity, and strategic investors, as well as emerging and established companies, in a variety of financing and strategic transactions. Michael serves as co-leader of the firm’s Emerging Company and Venture Capital team. Serving as lead deal counsel, Michael has helped clients structure, negotiate, and close hundreds of transactions across a range of industries, including AI, software, business services, infrastructure, biotech, agtech, medical devices, and consumer products and brands. In addition to his transactional practice, Michael serves as outside general counsel to companies, advising management teams and boards on strategic, commercial, and operational matters with a focus on practical execution and business-oriented solutions. Before returning to private practice, Michael served as vice president and general counsel of two venture-backed technology companies, giving him firsthand operating experience and a practical understanding of how management teams evaluate risk, growth, and strategic opportunities.
